Head of Business Technology Platforms
As the Head of Business Technology Platforms at Canva, you will lead the strategy, architecture, and engineering of systems that support Canva's core business operations, including Finance and People platforms. This strategic leadership role within our IT organization is crucial for ensuring these platforms are secure, scalable, and capable of supporting Canva's global growth and public-company scale. You will collaborate closely with leaders across Finance, People, and Security, Trust & IT to shape the platform strategy that underpins Canva's operations.
In this role, your key responsibilities will include setting the long-term technical vision and strategy for Canva's Finance and People platforms, establishing strong governance and control frameworks to support auditability and compliance, and building and scaling engineering capabilities within our business platform teams. You will also define Canva's strategy for automation and AI adoption across internal business platforms, lead strategic vendor relationships, and act as a senior partner to Finance, People, and executive leadership, translating platform risk, architecture, and roadmap into clear strategic narratives.
To be successful in this role, you should have experience leading large-scale enterprise platform, infrastructure, or internal technology organizations in high-growth technology environments. Experience operating in or preparing organizations for public company environments, with strong governance, compliance, and controls expectations, is essential. Deep expertise across enterprise systems such as ERP, HRIS, or financial platforms, and experience leading major platform implementations or transformations are also required. A strong understanding of system architecture, integrations, data flows, and how platforms support business outcomes is crucial. Experience building and scaling high-performing platform teams, moving organizations from reactive support models to proactive platform ownership, and being an experienced senior stakeholder partner comfortable working with executive leaders as well as technical teams are also important. Strong vendor and partner leadership experience, including managing strategic technology relationships and complex platform ecosystems, is also beneficial.
