The Hardware Test Technician at Oklo will collaborate with test engineers and hardware owners to fabricate, assemble, instrument, commission, and execute tests, focusing on thermal-hydraulic tests designed, procured, and fabricated to ASME B31.3 standards. This role involves translating sketches, CAD models, and work orders into high-quality test rigs and hardware, maintaining a safe and organized test facility, and supporting the operation of test rigs. The position is full-time and based on-site in Idaho Falls, ID.

Key responsibilities include fabricating, assembling, and operating test hardware and process equipment from sketches, CAD, and written directions; preparing stock by cutting, drilling, tapping, and fitting parts using common shop tools; performing light welding as skills allow; setting up and executing tests (thermal-hydraulic, mechanical, tribology), including fixture build and instrumentation; installing and calibrating sensors; troubleshooting build and test issues; maintaining a safe, clean, and organized shop; receiving and inspecting incoming parts; managing inventory of consumables, fasteners, gases, and tooling; creating and updating build documentation; and coordinating with engineers and vendors for quick-turn machining, welding, coatings, and other services.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and at least 3 years of hands-on mechanical fabrication/assembly or test operator experience, or equivalent training/portfolio (trade school, military, etc.). Familiarity with process equipment and ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code is required. Proficiency with basic shop operations, the ability to read mechanical drawings and build notes, and familiarity with shop safety, PPE, and housekeeping are essential. Basic computer skills, strong communication and teamwork abilities, and physical capability to perform shop tasks are also necessary.
