Graduate Firmware Engineer 2027
Graphcore is seeking a Graduate Firmware Engineer to join their Firmware team in Bristol, UK, starting in September 2027. This role offers a two-year graduate programme designed to provide hands-on experience in firmware development for next-generation AI compute hardware. As a Graduate Firmware Engineer, you will collaborate closely with silicon and hardware teams to design, develop, and deliver firmware that ensures reliable hardware bootup, power control, telemetry, and monitoring.
In this position, your primary responsibilities will include writing firmware to Graphcore's standards, reviewing code, and participating in technical discussions. You will also engage in continuous integration, build systems, and Agile practices. The role involves working on bootup, power management protocols, telemetry, and monitoring, contributing to the development of embedded software that enables complex hardware systems.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Introductory experience with C or Python is required, along with an understanding of continuous integration, build systems, and software packaging best practices. An interest in real-time embedded software, verification, or complex embedded platforms is essential, as is curiosity about server architecture, device drivers, operating system kernel development, or server firmware security.
