Formulation Scientist with Robotics Experience
Eurofins is seeking an Associate Scientist to join the Smart Lab within Drug Product Design and Supply. This role focuses on developing and deploying automation and technology processes for pharmaceutical drug candidates in a laboratory setting.
The successful candidate will help develop laboratory automation solutions for drug product development applications as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include assisting with the design and testing of modular hardware to facilitate data-rich experimentation, partnering with research scientists and engineers on suitable experimentation to deliver DPDS workflows for solid dosage form development, and collaborating with colleagues to define and implement crystallization, polymorph, and salt screening activities according to project timelines. Additional duties involve conducting solid-state physical and chemical characterization of small molecules, analyzing powder samples for key physical properties, developing and characterizing prototype formulations on a small scale, measuring key active compound and formulation properties, assessing the performance of prototype formulations using in-vitro tests, and documenting experimental procedures and data in electronic laboratory notebooks.
Candidates should possess a Master of Science Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related discipline; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in these fields with 2-4 years of relevant pharmaceutical experience is acceptable. An understanding and/or experience in pharmaceutical solid dosage formulation development is required. Excellent communication skills, keen observation, attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude are essential. Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills, proficiency in learning new techniques, developing and carrying out experimental plans, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and experience in data handling and scientific/engineering computations are also necessary. Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship is required.
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm, with potential requests to work on weekends, overtime, and holidays based on business needs.
