Family Law & Victim Rights Attorney
Pine Tree Legal Assistance (PTLA) is seeking a dedicated Family Law & Victim Rights Attorney to join our team. PTLA is a nonprofit organization committed to providing high-quality legal assistance to low-income individuals in Maine. This role focuses on representing clients in family law matters and advocating for the rights of victims, contributing to our mission of ensuring access to justice for all.
The attorney will handle a diverse caseload involving family law issues such as divorce, child custody, and protection from abuse orders. Responsibilities include conducting client interviews, developing case strategies, representing clients in court proceedings, and collaborating with community partners to provide comprehensive support to victims. The role also involves engaging in outreach and education initiatives to inform the community about legal rights and resources.
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in Maine or eligible for admission. A strong commitment to serving low-income and vulnerable populations is essential. Experience in family law and victim rights advocacy is preferred, along with excellent communication, negotiation, and litigation skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
