Facility Operations Specialist
The Facility Operations Specialist at Oklo is a cross-functional, onsite role based in Lockhart, Texas, approximately 30 miles south of Austin. This position is integral to supporting daily facility operations, ensuring safe and reliable performance across various functions, including operations, radiological protection, security, and administration. The role is part of Atomic Alchemy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oklo, dedicated to building scalable U.S. radioisotope production capabilities for healthcare, industry, research, and defense.
Key responsibilities include providing auxiliary support to daily facility activities, assisting operators during routine evolutions and maintenance coordination, and performing radiological protection support functions such as surveys, access control, and contamination monitoring. The specialist will also execute designated security functions, including access control and compliance with site security requirements, and perform administrative duties like recordkeeping, procedure support, and work coordination. Operating material handling equipment, supporting industrial safety programs, and responding to emergent conditions as directed by operations leadership are also essential duties.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent; technical training, an associate degree, or equivalent experience is preferred. The role requires the ability to work onsite and perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, lifting, and working in industrial environments. Experience with forklifts or material handling equipment is necessary, or the ability to qualify for such equipment. Previous experience in commercial nuclear, research and test reactors, or the U.S. Navy Nuclear program is preferred.
