Facility Maintenance Technician
Divergent is seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the daily operation, reliability, and safety of its manufacturing and R&D facilities in Torrance, California. This role focuses on executing maintenance tasks, responding to issues, and learning building systems through real-world experience. The technician works under general direction and contributes to a team that keeps critical infrastructure running in a fast-paced, high-precision environment.
Key responsibilities include performing routine troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, safety systems, and general facility infrastructure. The technician will respond to facility alarms, work orders, and maintenance requests under established procedures, assist with operating and maintaining utilities that support manufacturing and R&D equipment, and support installation and basic commissioning activities for new equipment and facility upgrades under direction. Monitoring building systems and reporting abnormal conditions, safety concerns, or recurring issues are also part of the role.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with technical training or certifications being a plus. They should possess 2–4 years of experience in facilities maintenance, mechanical trades, or building systems, along with mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning electrical, HVAC, and controls systems. The ability to read equipment manuals, procedures, and basic technical drawings, troubleshoot routine issues using established processes, and work independently on assigned tasks is essential. Basic computer skills for work orders, documentation, and system tracking, as well as the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varied indoor and outdoor environments, are required.
Divergent offers a competitive compensation package, with pay ranges based on the level of the job. For this role, candidates will be considered at levels T03 - T05, with hourly rates ranging from $26.00 to $44.00.
