Enterprise Network & Fiber Infrastructure Architect
The Enterprise Network & Fiber Infrastructure Architect at Hut 8 is responsible for designing, strategizing, and standardizing the company's enterprise network and fiber infrastructure across all data center environments. This role involves defining the architecture that connects facilities, enterprise systems, and carrier networks through resilient, scalable, and well-documented telecom and transport infrastructure. The architect will evaluate existing environments, design future-state network and fiber topologies, and collaborate with IT, data center operations, and external carriers to implement a reliable backbone that supports both current operations and long-term growth.
Key responsibilities include designing and standardizing Hut 8’s enterprise network and fiber infrastructure architecture across all data center sites, defining resilient network topologies for inter-data center connectivity, metro fiber, and enterprise transport networks, and developing fiber path diversity strategies to eliminate single points of failure across telecom infrastructure. The role also involves leading carrier and vendor technical evaluations, establishing network architecture standards, and providing technical oversight for implementation projects across multiple sites and vendors.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in network architecture, telecom infrastructure, or large-scale enterprise networking environments. Deep experience in designing fiber transport networks, including dark fiber, leased waves, DWDM, MPLS, or EVPN architectures, is essential. A strong understanding of physical fiber plant design, structured cabling standards, and meet-me room architecture within data centers is required. Familiarity with carrier interconnection models, cross-connects, and telecom vendor management, along with strong working knowledge of routing and transport technologies including BGP, L2/L3 networking, and high-availability network design, is also necessary. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred, and relevant certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, or equivalent networking credentials are a plus.
Hut 8 offers a comprehensive benefits and wellness program that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and short-term and long-term disability insurance, as well as paid time off.
