The Engineering Technician will collaborate with mechanical prototype engineers to fabricate, assemble, test, and deploy prototypes, tools, fixtures, and jigs. This role involves translating sketches, CAD models, and verbal instructions into high-quality parts and assemblies, while maintaining a safe and organized shop environment. The technician will engage in various tasks, including fabrication, assembly, test setup, instrumentation, and data collection.

Key responsibilities include fabricating and assembling prototypes from sketches and CAD models, interpreting drawings and tolerances, preparing materials using common shop tools, and operating basic machine tools such as saws, grinders, drills, and manual mills/lathes. The technician will also perform light welding, set up and execute mechanical tests, install and calibrate sensors, collect and organize test data, troubleshoot build and test issues, and maintain a clean and organized shop environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and at least three years of hands-on mechanical fabrication or assembly experience, or equivalent training. Proficiency with basic shop operations, the ability to read mechanical drawings and build notes, familiarity with shop safety practices, and basic computer skills are essential. Strong communication and teamwork abilities, as well as the physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods, are also required.
