The Engineering Manager, Verifications role at Checkr involves leading the Verifications engineering team, which is responsible for a comprehensive suite of screening products. These products include employment and education verifications, drug and occupational health screenings, reference checks, and right-to-work verifications. The team plays a crucial role in enabling enterprise customers to make informed decisions across diverse industries and regulatory environments.

Key responsibilities include setting technical direction, driving performance and career development within the team, and building a robust hiring pipeline. The role also entails owning the reliability and quality of a broad portfolio of fulfillment integrations, partnering closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to reduce friction and improve turnaround times. Additionally, the Engineering Manager will collaborate with Product to define and execute the roadmap across various verification products, translating customer and regulatory requirements into clear engineering priorities.

The ideal candidate will have over four years of experience as an engineering manager, with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams. They should also possess more than eight years of experience as a software engineer, with strong command of service architecture, distributed systems, and system design. Experience managing complex third-party integration environments and a history of improving operational metrics in high-stakes production environments are essential. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and experience working on regulated products where data accuracy and legal compliance are critical are also required.

Compensation for this role is competitive, with a base salary range of $233,000 to $274,000 in San Francisco, CA, and $197,000 to $232,000 in Denver, CO. Benefits include 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage, up to $25,000 reimbursement for fertility, adoption, and parental planning services, a flexible PTO policy, and monthly wellness and home office stipends.
