Engineering Manager, Front End
Checkr is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Growth team, focusing on enhancing the company's self-serve business. This team is dedicated to developing products and capabilities that drive customer acquisition, activation, expansion, and retention. The role involves leveraging front-end engineering expertise to guide and inspire the team in achieving company objectives and launching new products and features.
The Engineering Manager will oversee initiatives aimed at increasing self-service customer conversions, improving the onboarding experience, creating engagement loops, and expanding product usage across various segments. Responsibilities include leading test experimentation to unlock incremental business value, driving the technical vision for the team, partnering with product management to build and enhance features, reducing technical debt, and scaling the architecture sustainably. Additionally, the role involves building relationships with cross-functional teams, nurturing team members' career growth, hiring top talent, representing the team in planning and product meetings, and optimizing engineering processes to enhance velocity and quality.
Candidates should have at least 4 years of experience as an engineering manager and 8 years as an engineer. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with strong critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail. Experience managing quality incidents, working on products at scale, and understanding the complexities of supporting highly regulated products is required. Proficiency in test-driven development, pair programming, agile methodologies, service architecture, system design, and lean software development principles is also necessary. The ideal candidate will be capable of making high-level prioritization decisions, developing inclusive teams, mentoring team members, and demonstrating humility, openness to feedback, and eagerness to learn.
