Engineering Manager for IAM (Identity and Access Management)
Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team. This team is responsible for developing high-performing Go and Python services that provide secure identity and access management solutions across all Canonical products, including Ubuntu One SSO, Juju, LXD, and MAAS. The role offers an opportunity to shape the future of identity management at Canonical, a leader in open-source software and operating systems.
The Engineering Manager will oversee the design and implementation of complex, distributed systems, ensuring they are secure and performant. Key responsibilities include managing the team backlog, reviewing code, coaching team members, and collaborating with product management to define the technical vision. The role also involves working with upstream open-source projects and internal teams to deliver high-quality software deployable on various platforms, including bare metal, public cloud, and Kubernetes.
Candidates should have proven experience in hiring and leading high-performance software engineering teams, as well as proficiency in Go and Python development. A strong understanding of software and infrastructure security, performance, and experience with container technology and Kubernetes is essential. While knowledge of IAM technologies and standards is desirable, it is not mandatory. Exceptional academic credentials and excellent interpersonal skills are also required.
