Engineering Manager, Back End (Bangkok based, relocation provided)
Agoda is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Back End Engineering team in Bangkok. As a key player in our technology-driven organization, you will oversee the development of scalable, fault-tolerant systems and APIs that power our core business operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, data-centric environment within a global travel platform.
In this position, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Your day-to-day activities will include hands-on coding, code reviews, and providing expert guidance on system architecture. You will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive the continuous improvement of our back-end systems, employing agile development practices and state-of-the-art technologies.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in at least one programming language such as Java, Scala, or C#. A strong background in designing complex, scalable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems is essential. Proficiency in lower-level engineering concepts, including garbage collection and threading, is required. Additionally, candidates should have a proven track record of leading engineering teams with five or more direct reports and demonstrate a passion for technology and the internet.
