Energy and Environmental Services Equity Specialist
The Energy and Environmental Services Equity Specialist is a full-time position within the Climate Corps Fellowship program, starting on June 1, 2026, and lasting for 10 months. This hybrid role is based in Garden Grove, California, with an expectation of onsite work four days per week. The specialist will collaborate with the Energy and Environmental Services (EES) Department at Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP OC) to advance sustainability and equity initiatives in the region.
Key responsibilities include assisting in completing Phase II of the Health Equity Zones Project, which aims to drive systemic change within specific Orange County communities. The specialist will identify pollution sources and social inequities surrounding CAP OC’s Family Resource Centers and Garden Grove offices, analyze historical urban development contributing to these disparities, and assess the impact of Healthy Home Modification programs on participant health and energy burdens. Additional tasks involve conducting surveys, analyzing air monitoring data, developing GIS mapping skills to visualize survey findings, and gaining hands-on experience by shadowing Green Workforce Development projects, such as weatherization and heat pump installations.
Ideal candidates should be comfortable working with culturally diverse populations and have experience in community outreach and advocacy. A strong understanding of climate change and environmental justice issues is essential. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to adapt communication styles to various audiences.
