Formlabs is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join their R&D team in Shenzhen. This role involves collaborating with electrical engineers, systems engineers, and the broader software team to develop and define embedded systems for Formlabs' professional 3D printers.

The Embedded Software Engineer will work within a small, multi-disciplinary development team to architect and build software for execution on bare metal, RTOS, or Embedded Linux operating systems. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership on embedded software design and development, writing robust and reliable software for deployment across thousands of machines worldwide, implementing best practices for clean, well-documented code, delivering impactful features through stable firmware updates, assessing third-party and open-source software, making engineering tradeoff decisions, and contributing to the development of a long-term technology roadmap for the team and company.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or have equivalent practical experience. Mastery of C and modern C++ is required, along with proficiency in Python. Applicants should have experience developing software delivered to a large customer base, be ready to collaborate with various technical disciplines, and have familiarity with inter-process communication middleware for embedded software services. Proficiency in embedded software development for RTOS and Embedded Linux, experience in hardware bring-up using interfaces like ADC, GPIO, SPI, I2C, and familiarity with software development processes including source control, bug tracking, and design documentation are also essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
