The Downstream Development Engineer supports Pilot Lab operations bridging lab‑scale development and full‑scale manufacturing. This lab‑based role performs downstream purification activities, analyzes process data, and partners closely with Process Development and Manufacturing Sciences to support tech transfer.

Key responsibilities include executing non‑GMP downstream purification at pilot scale (50–1000 L), including chromatography, UF/DF, TFF, and filtration. The engineer will support process development, troubleshooting, material supply runs, and demonstration campaigns. Additional duties involve tracking materials and samples, coordinating with vendors and internal teams, recording, analyzing, and interpreting process data, presenting findings, and contributing to SOPs, batch records, reports, and tech transfer documentation. Evaluating and integrating new pilot‑scale technologies and digital tools to improve efficiency is also expected.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of industry experience, or a Master’s degree. Hands-on downstream purification experience is required, with a preference for experience with AKTA systems and Unicorn software. Experience working in a pilot plant or non‑GMP environment (50–1000 L scale) is beneficial. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills are essential. The role requires the ability to lift 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and wear required PPE. Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship is necessary.

The position offers excellent full-time benefits, including comprehensive medical coverage, dental, and vision options, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation and holidays, and eligibility for yearly goal-based bonuses and merit-based increases. The hourly rate is between $30 and $34.
