Director of Platform Engineering
As the Director of Platform Engineering at Checkr, you will lead the organization's platform and infrastructure strategy, ensuring the development of scalable, reliable, and secure systems. This role involves guiding the technical vision and fostering collaboration across engineering teams to support Checkr's mission of building a fairer future by improving the understanding of the past.
Key responsibilities include defining and driving the technical vision and architecture for a highly scalable platform, leading execution across platform engineering to enhance operational efficiency, and partnering with product engineering leadership to develop customer-centric solutions. Additionally, you will build and scale a high-performing, inclusive engineering team and lead the adoption of AI-enabled development practices to improve engineering velocity and code quality.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success at the Director level in leading and scaling high-performing engineering organizations of 30-40+ engineers, with 7-10 years of leadership experience in infrastructure or platform engineering initiatives and 15+ years in software engineering. A data-driven mindset, experience with platform adoption programs, and proven experience driving AI adoption across engineering teams are essential. Strong communication skills and a proactive leadership style are also required.
Compensation for this role varies by location, with a base salary range of $299,000 to $352,000 in San Francisco, CA, and $253,000 to $298,000 in Denver, CO.
