Director of Governance & Risk Compliance
Scale is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Governance, Risk, and Compliance to build and lead our centralized GRC function. This role involves setting a strategic, long-term vision, partnering cross-functionally across the company, and representing Scale's GRC functions with partners, regulators, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of corporate regulatory compliance and risk management, strong leadership and relationship-building skills, and experience building successful compliance programs at high-growth companies.
Key responsibilities include leading the GRC function encompassing compliance governance, compliance advisory, risk management, and regulatory compliance. The role involves managing and developing a team of compliance professionals to build scalable systems and processes, owning and maturing Scale's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, and partnering with various teams such as Legal, Security, Product, Engineering, and Operations to guide Scale's growth. Additionally, the Director will contribute to Scale's AI governance strategy and represent the team with internal and external stakeholders.
The position requires over 10 years of progressive experience in GRC, compliance, or related legal/regulatory roles, with demonstrated success in building or scaling compliance programs. Candidates should have experience designing and operating an Enterprise Risk Management program, deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, GDPR, and CPRA, and familiarity with U.S. Government contract compliance requirements. Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments are essential.
Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The base salary range for this full-time position in San Francisco, New York, and Seattle is $302,400 - $378,000 USD. Employees are also granted equity-based compensation, subject to Board of Director approval, and receive comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement benefits, a learning and development stipend, and generous PTO.
