Director, Events & Live Journalism
Semafor is seeking a Director of Events and Live Journalism to lead the planning and execution of high-profile global and national events, including signature summits, single-topic forums, newsmaker interviews, thought leader roundtables, receptions, and pop-up exchanges. This role involves close collaboration with the SVP and Head of U.S. Events to bring innovative and impactful events to life.
The Director will be responsible for end-to-end project and account management of marquee events, overseeing venue logistics, catering, audiovisual elements, decor, and on-site execution. They will lead sponsor client relationships from sale through event delivery, ensuring exceptional client service and engagement. Additionally, the role includes developing and managing event budgets, timelines, and project plans, as well as coordinating with the Senior Creative Director on event design and managing vendor contracts.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and have at least 8 years of experience in meeting and event planning, with a minimum of 4 years in partner account management. Strong professional meeting planning skills, experience in client relations, and proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Keynote/PowerPoint, Excel, and G-Suite are essential. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting tight deadlines.
The position offers a salary range of $120,000 to $140,000, based on factors such as education, work experience, and certifications. Semafor provides a Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) policy for full-time, salaried employees, allowing for paid time off as needed without a prescribed limit.
