Director, Commerce Planning
The Director, Commerce Planning at WPP Media will lead the development and execution of commerce-focused media strategies, integrating retail media networks and adtech partners to address complex business challenges. This role involves identifying product, process, and solution opportunities based on client needs, aiming to unlock new growth avenues across various channels. The position offers the chance to work across multiple client accounts, collaborate with retail partners, and support dynamic cross-functional project teams. Key responsibilities include managing a team of direct reports and overseeing their career development, enhancing account management practices to better serve WPP Media Commerce clients, and supporting agency teams across investment, search, social, programmatic, data, and analytics to deliver comprehensive solutions aligned with client business objectives. The role also involves integrating commerce and brand media to develop end-to-end media plans, managing relationships to ensure the delivery of innovative media solutions, staying updated on retail media trends, and developing and disseminating points of view on industry dynamics. Additionally, the Director will engage with internal and external leaders across WPP agencies, technology providers, and retailers to develop go-to-market solutions, and assist in creating commerce and retail media content, including educational trainings, points of view, and frameworks. Leading the adoption of WPP Media Commerce for new business and existing accounts is also a key aspect of the role.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Analytics, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or equivalent professional experience, along with over seven years of experience in commerce across paid media, trade strategy, retail, consulting, and/or analytics. They should have the ability to execute effective media plans that achieve business objectives, experience managing a team of direct reports, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. A strong drive to understand the retail landscape and the latest trends in commerce media is essential, as are strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas. A deep understanding of retail commercial elements such as profit margin, inventory levels, forecasting, and demand planning to inform media decisions, as well as how different media channels work together and how retail media fits within the wider ecosystem, is also required.
