Design Solution Engineering
The Design Solution Engineering role at Fictiv is a hands-on position focused on applying mechanical engineering expertise to address real-world design challenges for customers. As part of the Solutions Engineering team, this role emphasizes technical depth, customer interaction, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver comprehensive solutions. In this role, you will promote and educate customers—design or mechanical engineers, buyers, and other technical personnel—on Fictiv's products and services. You will create and deliver technical presentations as a subject matter expert to design engineering groups and collaborate with the sales team to achieve growth goals. Providing technical design support and education both internally and externally on products, including materials, fits, tolerances, lifespans, engineering calculations, sizing, CAD models, website, and functions via phone, email, and internal training will be key responsibilities. Additionally, you will handle large, custom, and competitor cross-over quoting opportunities between customers and internal departments to capture new business, ensure compliance to quality, and work as needed with Customer Service and Procurement to resolve quality claims. Identifying internal inefficiencies and suggesting solutions, generating expert technical content for webinars, seminars, videos, websites, catalogs, and other marketing collateral to increase product and brand awareness, and performing and supporting market research to provide insights for the machine design industry are also part of the role.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Automation, or Industrial Engineering, with 3 years of Application/Mechanical engineering experience preferred. Experience in sizing and specifying mechanical assemblies with assembly capabilities and knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment are preferred. Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and conflict management skills are essential, along with a working knowledge of 3D CAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint), CRM software, VB, and VBA. Strong verbal and written communication skills, a highly motivated and driven attitude, responsibility, leadership, and a results-oriented approach are also desired traits.
The salary range for this position is $64,000 to $90,000 per year, based upon experience.
