DCS (Distributed Control System) & Instrumentation Engineer - ABB

The DCS (Distributed Control System) & Instrumentation Engineer at BESIX plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of sewage treatment plants. This position is integral to the plant's automation and control processes, directly influencing performance, compliance, and operational stability. The engineer will be part of a dedicated team within BESIX, a leading Belgian construction company operating extensively in the Middle East.

Key responsibilities include administering, operating, and optimizing ABB DCS systems, such as ABB 800xA and Freelance, along with SCADA interfaces. The engineer will develop and implement control strategies, manage alarms, and coordinate system testing. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the lifecycle of field instruments, ensuring the reliability of Profibus DP/PA networks, and maintaining industrial communications. Ensuring compliance with safety standards and strengthening cybersecurity measures are also critical aspects of the job.

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Electronics, or a related engineering field. A minimum of 5–10 years of experience in process automation, particularly with ABB DCS/SCADA systems in water or wastewater environments, is required. Proficiency in Profibus DP/PA commissioning and diagnostics, as well as a solid background in instrumentation within hazardous and corrosive environments, is essential. Familiarity with SIS/ESD systems, alarm management practices, and experience with CMMS platforms are also important qualifications.
