Data Labeller - Japanese (12-month contract)

Canva is seeking a Data Labeller with native proficiency in Japanese to join our Localisation team on a 12-month contract. This role is integral to enhancing our AI capabilities by ensuring that our product and AI experiences are accurately tailored for Japanese-speaking users. The Localisation team collaborates closely with AI Research and AI Platform teams to deliver in-language AI evaluations, dataset creation, and quality assurance across Canva's priority markets.

As a Data Labeller, you will be responsible for handling labelling and annotation tasks in Japanese, supporting various product, content, and AI development initiatives. Your day-to-day activities will include labelling, annotating, and evaluating multimedia content such as photos, graphics, videos, stickers, and designs. Additionally, you will assess AI-generated content for linguistic quality, accuracy, and cultural appropriateness, and contribute to building language-specific datasets to support the internationalisation of Canva's AI features.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a multimedia designer with a strong portfolio demonstrating a deep understanding of visual communication fundamentals. Native proficiency in Japanese is required, along with excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment are essential. While basic knowledge of data annotation is a plus, it is not mandatory.
