Corporate Counsel – Privacy Commercial
Okta, a leading identity management company, is seeking a Corporate Counsel – Privacy Commercial to join their Cybersecurity & Privacy Legal team in Dublin, Ireland. This role involves advising and supporting Okta's commercial legal and sales organizations on privacy and data protection matters, primarily focusing on drafting and negotiating data processing addenda, information security exhibits, and related commercial documents. The position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in a cloud-first, SaaS environment, contributing to Okta's mission of enabling secure access and authentication for organizations worldwide.
Key responsibilities include advising, drafting, and negotiating privacy and data protection terms associated with outbound cloud service agreements, partnering closely with Okta’s Commercial Legal team. The role also involves providing day-to-day legal support on privacy and data protection-related contract requests, supporting the procurement team in drafting and negotiating privacy terms for vendor agreements, and assisting in the investigation of potential privacy and security incidents. Additionally, the Corporate Counsel will develop and maintain standards, processes, and guidance on privacy and data protection issues for Go-to-Market transactions, ensuring compliance with global privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
Candidates should have over 4 years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience, including at least 2 years focusing on privacy and data protection-related transactional matters, preferably in a SaaS technology company. A strong understanding of global privacy, data protection, and security frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, HIPAA, NIST, ISO, FedRAMP, and PCI-DSS, is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, drafting, and negotiation skills are required, along with the ability to provide practical and business-oriented legal guidance. A J.D. from a highly regarded law school is necessary, and certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe, U.S., Canada, and/or Asia) or Certified Information Privacy Manager are a plus.
The annual base salary range for this position in Ireland is between €115,000 and €158,000 EUR.
