Commercial Counsel, GTM
Anthropic, a leading AI research company, is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join its Go-to-Market (GTM) team. This role is integral to shaping how Anthropic's cutting-edge AI technology reaches users, researchers, and enterprises worldwide. As a Commercial Counsel, you will collaborate closely with experienced colleagues to support enterprise agreements, customer negotiations, and various commercial transactions, contributing directly to responsible AI development.
In this position, you will draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, focusing primarily on GTM and sales transactions, including enterprise customer contracts. You will partner closely with Sales and Go-to-Market teams to support deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance. Additionally, you will help build and maintain Anthropic's commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements. There may also be opportunities to collaborate with Policy, Safeguards, and Research teams on novel AI governance initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar, with a preference for California. A minimum of three years of legal experience, ideally with exposure to commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or technology transactions, is required. Clear communication skills and the ability to translate legal concepts for non-lawyer audiences are essential. A collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners, curiosity about AI technology and policy, and a commitment to responsible AI development are also important.
