Category Manager Asian & Tribal Arts
Catawiki is seeking a Category Manager for Asian & Tribal Arts to lead and expand this culturally rich and commercially complex category. This role involves overseeing Asian Art, Tribal & Ethnographic Art, and related subcategories, focusing on heritage, craftsmanship, provenance, and building collector trust. The position is based in the Netherlands with a hybrid setup, requiring at least two days per week in the Amsterdam office to collaborate with Category Managers, Commercial teams, and key stakeholders.
The Category Manager will develop and execute strategic growth plans, manage the category's P&L, and make data-driven decisions to enhance auction quality, pricing strategies, and supply mix. Responsibilities include shaping auction planning around market dynamics and collector behavior, driving curation excellence, identifying commercial opportunities, and strengthening the seller pipeline by partnering with Sales and Business Development teams. Building and maintaining relationships with key sellers, institutions, and professional networks is essential. Additionally, the role involves leading and developing an international team of experts, fostering performance, growth, and engagement.
Candidates should possess a strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities. Proven experience in driving growth and performance in complex categories or business environments is required. A data-driven approach, strong people management skills, resilience, and decisiveness in a fast-paced environment are essential. Excellent networking and communication skills, entrepreneurial energy, and a hands-on mindset are also important. While deep expertise in Asian Art, Tribal Art, or Collectables is beneficial, it can be developed on the job.
