This role involves collaborating with advanced language models to enhance their understanding of British Sign Language (BSL). Key responsibilities include engaging with AI models on real-world BSL communication scenarios and theoretical linguistic questions, verifying the linguistic accuracy and cultural appropriateness of model outputs, capturing reproducible error traces, and suggesting improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics.
Candidates should possess a bachelor's or master's degree in Deaf Studies, Sign Language Interpreting, Linguistics, or a related field. Additional qualifications such as RID certification, teaching experience, or involvement in community interpreting projects are advantageous. Strong metacognitive communication skills are essential.
The compensation for this contract role ranges from $6 to $65 per hour, determined based on experience, expertise, and geographic location. As a contractor, you will need to provide a secure computer and high-speed internet; company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance and paid time off do not apply.
