Board Test Operations Engineer
The Board Test Operations Engineer at Graphcore plays a pivotal role within the Manufacturing Operations organization, focusing on the development and maintenance of Flying Probe Test (FPT) and In-Circuit Test (ICT) solutions. This position is integral to delivering robust and scalable production test solutions for complex electronic circuit card assemblies, ensuring high-quality manufacturing test coverage and efficient deployment. The engineer will collaborate closely with the Product Test and Diagnosis team and other Manufacturing Operations teams to support the production of Graphcore's advanced AI hardware products.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining FPT and ICT test programs for printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing tests, reviewing hardware designs for Design for Test (DFT) readiness, and supporting improvements to maximize manufacturing test coverage. The role also involves debugging and troubleshooting hardware and test issues during design validation, new product introduction (NPI), and mass production phases. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to defining, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing test solutions, as well as supporting the deployment, qualification, and acceptance of test package sets at Contract Electronics Manufacturing (CEM) sites.
The ideal candidate should have experience with manufacturing test platforms such as Teradyne, Keysight, or TRI, with a preference for experience with SPEA systems. A strong understanding of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and PCB manufacturing processes, along with common failure mechanisms, is essential. The candidate should also appreciate Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI) processes and capabilities. Experience using In-System Programming (ISP) and On-Board Programming (OBP) solutions for circuit card assembly configuration is required. Proficiency with electronic test instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), source measure units (SMUs), clock generators, and power supplies, is necessary. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills within manufacturing and test environments, along with clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams, are also important.
