BIOS Senior/Lead Software Engineer
Arista Networks is seeking a BIOS Senior/Lead Software Engineer to join our team responsible for developing and maintaining the CPU firmware, BIOS, and boot loader software across all Arista products. This role involves collaborating with hardware engineers and vendors to integrate and validate new CPU technologies, ensuring our products boot securely and efficiently. In this position, you will design, develop, and maintain low-level CPU software, including firmware and boot loaders. Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass bringing up new CPU boards, integrating firmware from CPU and BIOS vendors, and developing automated tests using C, C++, and Python to validate features. Additionally, you'll work closely with hardware engineers to qualify new CPUs and related components, and contribute to open-source BIOS communities to enhance our products.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with at least 8 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 3 years of experience. Expertise in C programming is required, with knowledge of C++ and Python being desirable. Experience in CPU firmware, BIOS, and boot loader development, as well as bringing up new CPU boards, is essential. Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture and IP networking principles is also advantageous.
Arista offers a competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $210,000, depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity.
