Biophysical Characterization Scientist - Drug Product Formulation
Eurofins is seeking a Biophysical Characterization Scientist to join our Professional Scientific Services (PSS) team at a client site in Rahway, New Jersey. This role focuses on supporting physical characterization for pharmaceutical products within a collaborative team environment dedicated to advancing drug product formulation.
The primary responsibilities include conducting physical testing of samples to aid pharmaceutical formulation development, processing and interpreting data, and documenting findings accurately. The scientist will also be responsible for calibrating and performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment, as well as supporting laboratory operations through activities such as weekly eye-wash checks, shipping, and managing chemical inventory.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of three years of industrial experience, or a Master's degree with at least one year of industrial experience. Experience with physical characterization techniques such as Powder X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR, Raman), and/or microscopy is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel), the ability to multitask, self-motivation, and the capability to perform duties with minimal supervision are also required. Preferred qualifications include GMP experience, expertise in powder characterization techniques to measure particle size, powder flow, and surface area, as well as experience with laboratory automation tools.
The position offers a competitive hourly compensation ranging from $27.50 to $29.00, based on education and experience.
