The Associate- Legal position at JioHotstar involves providing comprehensive legal support to the Digital business, focusing on the production and acquisition of feature films, web series (both fiction and non-fiction), licensing agreements with studios (both Indian and international), and agreements for live events hosted on JioHotstar. The role also encompasses drafting and negotiating various commercial contracts, service and marketing agreements, promo productions, dubbing agreements, and other related documentation. Additionally, the Associate will offer legal counsel to business stakeholders and senior management on deal structuring, intellectual property rights, and various aspects of copyright, contract, and other corporate and commercial laws pertinent to the digital ecosystem.

Key responsibilities include structuring, negotiating, reviewing, and drafting agreements related to the production, acquisition, marketing, distribution, and exploitation of various rights in audio-visual content. The Associate will assist and advise business team members on legal and commercial issues in business transactions, including the scope of intellectual property and other contractual rights and obligations. Conducting necessary due diligence and rights checks prior to content acquisition or exploitation, maintaining and updating the rights management database, and providing guidance to senior management on contractual rights, intellectual property rights, and dispute resolution are also integral parts of the role.

The ideal candidate should possess strong drafting and negotiating skills, commercial deal-making abilities, and excellent spoken and written English communication. A solid understanding of copyright law and general contract laws is essential, along with experience in the media and entertainment sector. The candidate should be enthusiastic, well-organized, ethical, and a hard-working team player capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment. The ability to mentor and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance, is also important.

This is a contractual position for a duration of 12 months.
