Application Engineering Specialist
As an Application Engineering Specialist at Vention, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing industrial automation solutions for a diverse clientele. Reporting directly to the Application Engineering Manager, you will collaborate closely with Account Executives to provide expert advice and insights using Vention's proprietary CAD software, MachineBuilder. This role offers the opportunity to engage with leading companies in the automotive, robotics, and aerospace sectors, contributing to innovative projects that shape the future of manufacturing.
Your primary responsibilities will include creating effective designs utilizing Vention's 3D MachineBuilder and modular component library, leading design review sessions to offer constructive feedback, and assessing designs for performance, structural integrity, and efficiency. Additionally, you will develop custom parts and drawings as needed, draft requests for proposals for third-party components, and support the sales team by addressing the technical aspects of project agreements. Engaging in brainstorming sessions, conducting technical post-mortems, and assisting in project feasibility assessments will also be key aspects of your role. Occasional travel to client sites, up to twice per quarter, will be required to ensure successful project deployment and after-sales support.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or System Integrator field, with exposure to a broad range of industrial automation applications such as End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT), conveyors, packaging, and welding. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive, solution-oriented mindset, a strong desire to share knowledge and mentor colleagues, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments managing multiple projects simultaneously. While not mandatory, holding an OIQ engineer permit certification is considered an asset.
