This role focuses on executing Adyen's global financial crime compliance strategy with a localized approach, ensuring adherence to the Japan Financial Services Agency (JFSA) and other APAC regulators. The position involves safeguarding banking products and acquiring flows through high-impact screening activities and AML monitoring.
In this role, the analyst will investigate alerts on unusual transactions, reviewing and resolving daily screening alerts using internal and external systems and databases. Additional responsibilities include proposing process improvements, collaborating with global teams to ensure consistency in AML and Screening Investigations, and identifying operational bottlenecks in the Japanese screening workflow.
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in AML and/or CFT compliance or Sanctions operations, with a proven track record in 1st Line of Defense investigations within the Japanese financial sector. A strong understanding of the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds and the JFSA’s "Guidelines for Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism" is essential. Experience in identifying and mitigating risks related to ASF and/or ISA watchlists, along with an understanding of screening nuances of Kanji, Katakana, and Romanized name variations, is required. Strong analytical skills, adaptability in a fast-paced Fintech environment, and excellent communication skills in both Japanese (Native / JLPT N1 equivalent) and English are necessary. Experience in the Japanese payments, E-money, or Fintech sector is highly preferred; professional certifications such as ACAMS or CAMS-JP are a significant plus.
