As an Algorithm Researcher at Via, you will join our R&D center in London, becoming a key member of the Core R&D group responsible for developing and maintaining Via's proprietary algorithms and the services that run them in production. This role intersects algorithm development, data science, and software engineering, offering the opportunity to work on complex algorithmic problems and transform solutions into reliable production systems supporting Via's global transportation networks.

In this position, you will design, develop, and enhance Via's core algorithms and business logic to address complex real-world challenges. Your responsibilities will include exploring and evaluating algorithmic approaches through data analysis, experimentation, and analytical methods, as well as developing and maintaining mission-critical services that integrate algorithmic solutions into production. You will work with large datasets to analyze system behavior and improve algorithm performance, taking ownership of complex technical problems from initial research to production deployment. Collaboration with algorithm developers, researchers, data scientists, and software engineers will be essential.

The ideal candidate will possess an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field, along with over three years of relevant industry experience in algorithm development, data science, research, or software engineering with a strong algorithmic focus. A deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and analytical problem-solving is required, as well as strong Python skills and experience in developing production-quality code. Experience in applying data science, optimization, or analytical techniques to solve complex problems, and in transforming algorithms, models, or prototypes into production systems, is essential. Familiarity with DevOps and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Kubernetes) and experience in architecture and maintaining cloud systems are advantageous. A curious and analytical mindset, pragmatic problem-solving abilities, and a hands-on approach to taking ideas from research to production are key attributes for this role.

Compensation includes competitive pay and equity options.
