AI & ML Engineer

Sandstone is seeking an AI & ML Engineer to develop AI-driven solutions for in-house legal teams. The company aims to transform legal departments into strategic partners by integrating AI into their workflows. As part of the engineering team, the role involves building systems that enhance legal processes through AI and machine learning.

In this position, you will design and implement AI systems for tasks such as contract review, legal intake, drafting, negotiation, search, and knowledge management. Your responsibilities include improving retrieval and context systems, developing document parsing pipelines, and creating evaluation metrics to measure system performance. Collaboration with engineers, lawyers, designers, and customers is essential to translate legal expertise into effective product features.

Candidates should have over four years of experience in AI or ML engineering, full-stack development, product engineering, or data science. Experience in deploying AI or LLM-powered products, particularly in areas like retrieval, agents, document understanding, and workflow orchestration, is preferred. Strong software engineering skills and the ability to manage complex technical and product challenges are essential.
