Position Summary
The Aerial Lineman / Coax Splicer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and splicing of aerial and underground coaxial and fiber optic telecommunications lines. This role involves climbing utility poles, working from bucket trucks, performing coax splicing, troubleshooting signal issues, and ensuring optimal performance of the communication network.
The position requires strong technical skills, the ability to read system maps and engineering drawings, and strict adherence to safety procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Aerial Lineman Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair aerial fiber optic and coaxial lines.
Climb utility poles using gaffs, ladders, and operate bucket trucks to access overhead facilities.
Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
Perform cable splicing, terminations, and testing.
Troubleshoot damaged or faulty aerial lines and restore service.
Coax Splicer Responsibilities
Install, splice, repair, and maintain coaxial cable systems for residential, commercial, and infrastructure builds.
Perform splicing in both overhead and underground environments.
Conduct signal level tests, interpret data, and troubleshoot RF performance issues.
Locate and repair cable faults without service interruptions.
Maintain and troubleshoot amplifiers, nodes, and related network components.
General Field Responsibilities
Follow OSHA and company‑mandated safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Collaborate with engineers, ground crews, and project managers to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Operate, maintain, and safely handle tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
