As a Technical Accounting Subject-Matter Expert at xAI, you will play a pivotal role in developing advanced artificial intelligence systems aimed at accurately understanding the universe and aiding humanity's pursuit of knowledge. Collaborating closely with engineering and research teams, you will apply your deep technical accounting expertise to guide AI models in interpreting complex, non-routine accounting issues, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated accounting conclusions.

Your primary responsibilities will include evaluating sophisticated accounting scenarios, providing rigorous technical analysis, and offering clear written explanations. You will work on areas such as revenue recognition, business combinations, consolidations, equity compensation, leases, financial instruments, and disclosures. Additionally, you will use proprietary software applications to provide input and labels on defined projects, support the delivery of high-quality curated data, and contribute to the training of new tasks by working closely with technical staff to develop and implement cutting-edge initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have experience in technical accounting, audit, or accounting advisory roles within a public accounting firm or specialized advisory practice, with exposure to complex GAAP and SEC-reporting environments. A demonstrated ability to research and apply U.S. GAAP and other authoritative guidance to non-routine or judgment-intensive accounting issues is essential. Strong written communication skills in English, proficiency in navigating authoritative accounting resources, and strong analytical judgment are also required. A CPA license in good standing and experience in national office, technical accounting advisory, or SEC-focused roles are preferred.

This role offers competitive compensation, with U.S.-based candidates earning between $45 and $100 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications. Benefits for eligible U.S.-based positions include health insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave. Specific details and role-specific information will be provided during the interview process.
